31st Annual - Saturday July 18th & Sunday July 19th
West Seattle Am Participant,
I am sorry to report that we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 West Seattle Amateur.
We postponed this decision as long as possible but now that we are within a month we have realized that the execution of this event in such a short period of time would be extremely difficult.
Even if we were able to get into Phase III within King County the restrictions against 50+ person gatherings would still be in place that prohibits us from conducting this fabulous community event.
Despite having the intentions of implementing the most thorough Covid-19 ‘best practices’ for the tournament we still worry about the necessity of gathering 200 players together for a big golf tournament.
Deep down I am pretty sad as this will be the first ‘WSAM’ not played since my first year at West Seattle Golf Course (1990).
However, emotions in this decision can not play a bigger part than protecting the health of our community.
See you all at the 2021 West Seattle Amateur.
2018 West Seattle Amateur Champion Chris Hatch begins the second round.
2018 WS Am Full Field Results - Alpha by Division
West Seattle Amateur Competitor,
The West Seattle Amateur tournament committee had a great time spending the last two days with you.
A huge congratulation goes out to Chris Hatch, our 2018 West Seattle Amateur Champion, who broke the all-time tournament record by shooting a 2-round total of 10-under par 134. Chris has a special love for West Seattle GC as he set the competitive course record of 63 in the 2015 West Seattle Amateur. We are also very proud of Grant Cole in his Title Defense shooting a 9-under par 135. That score would have won all 28 West Seattle Amateur Championships except for this year’s event.
The links above are the full field results and the final payouts from all the divisions. Congratulation to all of our Division winners – each division was paid out 12 deep (14 in the D division).
I would like to aknowlege our new superintendent Rocky Tharp and his staff for preparing the course for this event. The course was absolutely beautiful and we were very proud to show it to the largest field in West Seattle Amateur history.
We want to remind all of you to post your own Tournament Scores.
The event Web Site will be updated with all of the results and photos later in the week.
On behalf of the tournament committee of Aron DeFaccio and Eric McCabe, thank you very much for playing and we hope you had a fun weekend.
