Jay Ellingson

Teaching Professional

Jay comes to Interbay with over 20 years playing experience.  In 2005, he graduated from San Diego Golf Academy with a business degree.  While attending San Diego Golf Academy, Jay studied the golf swing under 5 PGA professionals with over 130 years teaching experience.  Receiving lots of instruction helped Jay graduate as a scratch golfer.  Jay’s strengths are working with video, training aids, strength training, and drills.  Some of Jay’s accomplishments while attending San Diego Golf Academy are:

  • Teaching certificate in advanced teaching
  • Certificate in club fitting
  • Certificate in club building and club repair
  • Tournament operations

Jay’s believes in the importance of having great pre-swing fundamentals.  Many swing errors are a result of having bad pre swing fundamentals. Grip, posture, ball position, stance, aim, and tension are all pre-swing fundamentals that are key to having a great in-swing motion.  Jay will help each student understand these fundamentals to help shape the individual’s golf swing.  Jay believes each student should understand their flaws first, and then start the learning curve to a great pre-swing.
